Is there a passionate kiss or not?

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Today on TCM they showed an old theatrical release movie trailer for "Old Acquaintance". (The trailer is also on the IMDB page.) The trailer contained a passionate smooch between Deirdre and Rudd which I'm pretty sure is not in the actual movie.

Now I have to wait a few days until it plays on TCM to verify whether the kiss is in the movie or not.

Ok.So it is a few days later and TCM showed it. Rudd and Deirdre start falling in love but there is no kiss.

(That Deirdre is sort of a hussy if you ask me and if she weren't sort of a bad actress I would think she was sexy too.)

So now the question I seem to be discussing with myself is why does the kiss appear in the trailer but not in the movie?

I think it must have been Davis pulling rank that the kiss was removed. After all, it helped explain that Rudd and Deirdre had this powerful attraction to each other so why remove it? I'm thinking that the power of the kiss made Davis feel like a loser.

But the studio people (my theory) wanted the kiss included in the trailer because they needed to promote the movie with a little sex between young people which this show lacks.

Trailers exist to put the asses in the seats.

There should be some kind of rule to not use anything from the cutting room floor in their theatrical trailers. It's like false advertising. They do that today too.

Sorry about the double post there. Stupid laptop of mine. grrrrrr.....

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

The trailer I've been talking about from this movie contains a spoiler. We don't find out about Rudd's romance until late in the film and it is a big plot point. So for the trailer to give it away is a no no.
