This movie is overdue for a remake

This movie ranks up with Springtime for Hitler in the Producers which was also a musical. The blood transfusion bit was very novel, even for war time propaganda.

The only interesting part is a very young Dana Andrews, Anne Baxter and a Dean Jagger with a full head of hair.

Very bad film. Ed Wood should have done a remake for greater realism.

Too bad it was a toupee. 😃 He was wearing one on film at least as early as the mid-'30s.

No blah, blah, blah!

Yeah, the film needs a remake. I just watched this for the first time on TMC. Although it was made during World War II - it was more historically inaccurate than a lot of modern (70+ years after WWII) movies. I would like to see another good World War II guerrilla movie. Since this was supposed to be taking place in Ukraine, it would have been even more interesting if a modern version of the movie took the point of view of Ukrainians who had suffered in the 1930s so resented the Soviets, and initially welcomed the Germans as liberators (like they did in 1917) and collaborate with them, only to be treated as subhumans. The whole dichotomy would make for an interesting movie.
