Isn't hindsight a beautiful thing?

One of the reviews for this film states the following...

I found the portrayal of the valet in very poor taste and offensive. I know African American actors had little choice in their roles at the time, so I don't blame the actor, but the writer, director and producer.

While I do not disagree with the statement that the depiction is in poor taste and mildly offensive, the sentiment is relative to the time in which the review was written, nearly 70 years after the fact.

Another thing, the valet was in two scenes and had all of about 15 seconds of screen time. To pick out that one, minor aspect of the film and put it to a magnifying glass seems really pointless, almost as pointless as stating that racism was more overt 70 years ago than it is today.
