DVD release of this film?

Hello,

Any chance of a region 1 DVD release of this? There seem to be region 2 DVDs to be had in the UK. I guess I'm surprised that with all of the releases (good and bad) on DVD, this film hasn't been among them.

Is it really that obscure?

reply

Invest in a Region Free Player! I found one through eBay and it only cost about $65 and $20 of that was shipping!

This is one of those movies that made me glad I did.

Just bought this DVD --region 2--from www.simply.he.uk and really enjoyed it. Nice to see a young Megs Jenkins and Irene Handl.
I worked in a steel mill in the 60s and some of the workforce were classed as being in reserved occupations and had been there during the war. There was an overhead woman crane driver who had stayed on after the war finished and was still working there in the 60s! This film brought back memories of those times.
Incidently at the end of the film the female singer performing for the workers had a marvellous voice and I thought it would be a well known face. Her name was Bertha Willmott-- someone I've never heard of . I must look her up on IMDb.
Thinking about it Bertha with her talent would have been well known to wartime audiences.

Honestly, Bertha's voice has little (apparent) range and comes across as rather strident to these ears. However, the scene is quite effective.
