His description of Marie to the jeweler was the best scene in the film. It was if he finally had the time to contemplate how lucky a guy he was after years of research work together. Touching!

Totally agree. It was very moving, and of course foreshadowing.

It was amusing how he would go on and on about her (throughout the film), not realizing what he was really saying was that he loved her.
