Orphanages In Modern Times

What a wonderful movie! Poor little Alpha reminded me of all those stories about orphaned children, and how they find their way to a better life. Does anybody know whether any actual, institutional orphanages still exist anywhere in the United States, Canada, or the U.K.? If so, do you have any information about it? Thanks!!!
