mickey rooney

actually nice to see mickey in a role where (for once) he isn't delivering his lines at 110 decibels and chewing up the scenery.

Mickey Rooney seemed to do some of his best work for director Clarence Brown, who had respect for Rooney's abilities. Check out National Velvet and Ah, Wilderness.

I agree. This has always been one of my favorite Mickey Rooney films, along with National Velvet, too.

Watching this right now on TCM. Mickey is wonderful and in this role so very sensitive and caring. He is still with us and just had a birthday !

I've never cared for rooney, as he constantly spews the studio garbage of what happened to Judy Garland. He also couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

In general, I am not a big fan of his. But I must say I thought he did a good job in this, The Black Stallion, and Requiem for a Heavyweight.

Surprisingly, he has appeared in a film in ten decades.

Sorta like Victor Mature who once said: "I wasn't a very good actor and I got 69 movies to prove it."

Mick was terrific in this film. In fact, he and Frank Morgan were the best things in it.

On my way here, I stopped at Mickey Rooney's page. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he is currently filming a movie. At the age of 93, he is filming one movie and has two possible others in pre-production. I find that to be very impressive.
