One of the best Fox musical of all time!

I think this is one of the best Fox musiccals of the forties!

1. Alice Faye is at her best. She sings her theme song in this movie.
2. "You'll Never Know" won the best song of the yeat at the academy awards.

3. It is in technicolor.

4. John Payne, June Havoc, Jack Oakie are great cast!!

5. It's one musical I can see over and over and not get tired of!!

Just watched this for the first time, and I agree it's a great musical. I'm surprised it's not as popular or well-remembered. Alice Faye is at the top of her game, and Jack Oakie, Lynn Bari, and June Havoc are all terrific.

I wouldn't consider this exactly a musical; I think it's more of a comedy involving musical numbers by people in showbiz. But I agree it's a lovely film. An improvement over the original version I believe. The supporting cast is indeed stellar; my only complaint is we didn't get enough Laird Cregar. But he still makes an impression, providing his character with a boorish, completely new voice.

I am watching it now.
