Bidin' My Time - inspired surrealism

This is one of the most original musical numbers I've seen,especially in a Forties musical.It's droll and surprisingly surrealistic.Everyone moves in languid slow motion much of the time.Judy mugs ironically and even winks directly to the camera in a rare for the 40's acknowledgement of the fact that this is a film.Her guitar floats in midair as she walks away from it.When the dancing suddenly gets lively and Corky does a little solo dance it ends with firecrackers going off under him and Judy (where did these come from ?).This could have been a boring number but instead is an original and funny sequence that doesn't quite inhabit the "real" world.
