Climax *Spoilers*

Quite gory I thought for a 70 + year old film. We see the captain and Finn both bruised and bloody from the knife fight.

And then cut to a smiling Merriam leaving the ship.

Finn the mute hero is just forgotten about in the rush to introduce the likely new girl friend in silhouette (which was I admit, kind of appropriate in a Lewton film IMO).🐭

It seems you forgot that immediately before Merriam leaves the ship at the end, Finn was seen standing beside Merriam on the bridge, plainly rewarded with a position of trust for services rendered. He wasn't forgotten, either by Merriam or Lewton.

Most great films deserve a more appreciative audience than they get.

reply

No. I don't remember seeing that at all, but I'm happy to take your word on it occurring.🐭

reply

There were a couple of quick "meat" shots in there which would be highly unusual for a film of the early 40s.
