What happened to Maleva?

Are we to assume she died in the flood, or did she leave before that? She was definitely there while they were prepping for the final experiment. But I don't think whether she lived or was killed was ever even suggested one way or the other.

She had left by that point. At the end, it was only Dr. Mannering, Baroness Frankenstein, and the two patients who were in the castle. It is kind of odd for her to disappear off-camera after delivering the line that Larry Talbot is not insane, but I can only imagine she chose to head back to her troupe rather than stay and watch Larry die.

Okay thanks, that makes sense. I assumed she had left too, but I wondered just because as you said, I found it odd for her to just sort of disappear from the film.

I rewatched the ending last night. It is odd how she just disappears from the film after that line. But it's daylight when she says it and night time when they revive the monster. That's several hours in which she could have left.

I guess maybe she felt he was in good hands since Mannering was a doctor and there to help. (Unfortunately, he decided to help the monster instead.)

Sadly, I think Maleva was either drowned or crushed when the castle was flooded.

The last time we see her, when she says, "He is not insane. He simply wants to die", she has a blanket draped around her shoulders and she looks she's settling in for the night.

So I assume Maleva was probably asleep somewhere in the castle when the flood waters hit.

It WOULD have been nice to have Larry send Maleva off in her horse-drawn cart before the climax, saying to her, "You've done all you can for me. Thank you. Go back to your people now so they can take care of you."

Oh, thanks. That is interesting.

She had a minor accident on set while filming and was in the hospital during filming of the climax. The script had her leaving the castle with Mannering and Elsa at the end
