Incredible movie

What an incredible movie! Co-written and directed by Billy Wilder, who was responsible for some of my favorite films of all time, especially "Some Like It Hot." It's a WW2 fictional movie, though based on fact. If you watch this and don't understand, you need to watch "The Desert Fox," with James Mason, based on German Field Marshall Erwin Rommell's life. Here, Erich Von Stoheim plays him in a remarkable performance. You really need to be into WW2 movies to understand what's going on, which I am. Or war movies, or history in general. If you don't, of course you will not appreciate it. But for those into these kind of movies, it is awesome--the acting, writing, directing, etc. It's got comic relief (Akim Tamiroff), intelligent dialog, nicely designed sets, etc.--I highly recommend it.

No, actually, two of the definitions of "incredible" are... "marvelous" and "amazing." Many words have different definitions...and it was obvious what definition I was using. LOL, some people have too much time on their hands! Although, I will give you credit for watching this "marvelous" movie, which I assume you did.

Much better than I expected...after seeing the British officer who speaks with no accent --Tone-- fall off a tank. How did I miss this one?

I've been watching TCM for 20 years and I've never seen this. I just watched it and thought it was excellent. All the plot twists were so neatly done. It seems that Wilder has been able to match Lubitsch injecting humour and magic whenever it is needed and then making me cry at the end.
