Ava Gardner

I heard Ava Gardner was an extra in this film. I always wondered where she was in the movie. Anybody know?

I'll have to watch the film again. I know shes's an extra in Swing Fever and Two Girls and A Sailor but it's very easy to find her in those two. I like Lana Turner's bit in this movie.

I went back and watched the movie after I read this. I believe Ava is in the scene where all the girls show up to clean up King Louis. There are two girls holding perfume bottles; I think she's the one on the right.

Also, in the scene where King Louis goes to visit Madame DuBarry, Hugh Beaumont(Ward Cleaver) is the footman who helps Louis up after he falls out of the carriage.l

you're absolutely right. i watched the film again the other day and ava is the girl on the right. grace albertson (a chorus girl in various mgm musicals of the 40s) is on the left.

I've always wanted to find a book about the chorus girls from old movies. My mother lived in Hollywood in the 1950s and her roommate was a professional dancer with stories about her tours and work. That planted the bug to watch lots of old movies! It's fun to watch them and spot the now famous actors. I am pretty sure I saw Jerry Ohrbach in the original Guys and Dolls! Julie Newmar (nee Newmeyer) was in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and is the perfect example of the actors I'd like to read about. Does anyone have a book recommendation? Thank you.
