Lon Chaney Jr.

Many names are mentioned as being in this film, but are nowhere to be found on screen: Lon Chaney, Evelyn Ankers, Grace McDonald, Louise Allbritton, Turhan Bey, and Gale Sondergaard. At least those credited do indeed appear, such as Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, Johnny Mack Brown, Leo Carrillo, Andy Devine, Allan Jones, Alan Curtis, and Robert Paige.

The six names I mentioned are not only unbilled, they don't appear at all.

No I have the film and neither Chaney, or the other unbilled stars appear in it.

Nearly all music, absolutely no kind of horror content, precious little comedy. Early on, when Olsen and Johnson arrive at the Universal gates, hopes were high that Lon would be among the many contract players that appear, but like the other unbilled performers is nowhere to be seen.

SON OF DRACULA was completed in Feb 1943, while CRAZY HOUSE was shot from June-Aug, a period when Chaney was working on FRONTIER BADMEN. I am well versed in Chaney lore, and can confirm which titles that he is nowhere to be seen: CRAZY HOUSE, CAPTAIN HURRICANE, LOVE IS NEWS, BORN RECKLESS, and WALKING DOWN BROADWAY.
