Once again Criterion disappoints with the extras on this dvd. They are ok for what they are,an excerpt from a short docu about French film and a short interview with Clouzot, both dealing with the political situation around the film and not the film itself. But Criterion could be doing much more. Just watched Grand Illusion where the commentary track also disappointed.

Thanks for your take on this. I didn't know hating on Criterion was a 'thing.' And I do appreciate them. Just loved these two films so much I wanted to decompress with someone else who did, right then, by hearing an informed commentary track.
But you are right.
