Erich Korngold's Score

I'm fortunate enough to own a tape of The Constant Nymph, although several times dubbed. Its suppression is a particular loss because of the score, which is one of Korngold's most lavish, culminating in the "Tomorrow" cantata. True, the score is annoyingly omnipresent early in the film, in true 1943 style; you long for a few m oments of silence, but that's a minor flaw. My memory of the film consists of seeing it with my Mom in a theater in Brookline, MA back in 1943 and having a good communal weep-along. We also had "Tomorrow" on the piano as sheet-music, less satisfactory. They don't make 'em like that any more.

I was just listening to my two-CD Korngold set. I like the music to "The Constant Nymph" very much, but the score to "Kings Row" will always be my favorite. It gives me goosebumps.
