Release of 'Coney Island' on DVD.

With her bright and breezy personality, Betty Grable brightened many a dark day during World War II and "Coney Island" was one of her better musicals with catchy songs, clever dance routines and slick and colourful production numbers,
choreographed by Hermes Pan, who also created many of Fred Astaire's routines. Other Grable musicals include "Moon Over Miami", "The Dolly Sisters", "Sweet Rosie O'Grady" to mention but a few.
Several major Studios are now releasing DVD Box Sets of their major stars and, as Betty was born eighty-nine years ago on December 18, it would be a fitting tribute to her talent and popularity if 20th Century Fox released some of her musicals, including "Coney Island" on DVD in 2006 to mark the 90th anniversary of her birth.

Apparently "Pin Up Girl" is due a R1 DVD release by Fox in Feb 2006, alongside two others ("Daddy Longlegs" and "Weekend in Havana") in a new strand "Fox Musical Marquee"

It is odd they have not released this on DVD, demand must be relatively low for the title. On the other hand, it has been digitized, it was played twice one day on Cinemax, and has not been repeated again in many months. I do have it, lucky me...

It was just on Cinemax again this week. One of Grable's best.
