Strange Music

Did anyone else feel that they had heard the tune of the music in the polka dance sequence early in the film?? If you watch this movie again, see if it is not the same tune used for the theme song from "Thunder Road"!!! I swear... check it out.. I found myself singing Thunder Road as they danced around the Inn.

Absolutely! I couldn't believe no one else had noticed this. I wonder if it's a traditional folk tune used by the composer. I believe Robert Mitchum is credited as composer on the hit record from "Thunder Road". This would make sense if it's a public domain tune.

As an example, "And the Angels Sing", a swing treatment of a traditional yiddish folk tune, "Der Shtiller Bulgar", is credited to composer Ziggy Elman and lyricist Johnny Mercer. Of course, only the lyrics are completely original. Classical composers used lots of traditional tunes in their works.

I don't see the music correlation at all.
Jack Marshall scored Thunder Road. While it's remotely (VERY REMOTELY) possible that he may have "influenced" by that folk music it's highly unlikely.
Jack Marshall, in 1964 wrote the musical score for the series "The Munsters" of all things!
Try listening to the music in Thunder Road sometime and you'll swear it was directly lifted from The Munsters!
I dare you!
