Dorothy McGuire's Claudia hardly

looked like a child bride! I thought the character came off as silly since she looked her age which was 27. While Robert Young & the actress who played the mother as well as the 2 servants were spot on wonderful. I found McGuire's Claudia annoying.

Sheldon:"Was the starfish wearing boxer shorts? Because you might have been watching Nickelodeon."

Wanna bet that a year from now there won't be many ( if any people ) agreeing with you?

I happen to agree with the OP. I thought her character was annoying, even though I actually like Dorothy as an actress.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how opinion runs, if this board even gets many more posters.

I agree the Claudia is annoying what her husband saw in her I will never know!

I agree, I had to stop watching around 30 minutes in. I couldn't stand the way she jumps about.

If you read the "Claudia" novels, you'll see that McGuire played the character just as Franken wrote her. McGuire easily passed for a late teens/early twenties young woman of the 1930s-1940s. Claudia as written is very spontaneous and impetuous. She's the only child of a widow, and has been somewhat indulged and babied. She's also become quite sexually aware in marriage, and it's understood that she and David have a very playful and passionate aspect to their marriage. She's charming, unpredictable, devoted, quirky, feminine, amusing, sexy, very pretty, and adores her husband. Most men would find that very appealing.
