'Mr Jones'

I find it amusing that early on in the film, Alan Ladd dons a leather jacket and fedora and is known as "Mr Jones".
Granted, leather jackets and fedoras were in vogue then, but the "Mr Jones" bit is just too much!
I wonder if he hailed from Indiana!
I've always maintained that Lucas and Speilberg haven't got an original bone in their collective bodies!

Decent clothes...a car, but what's it all about?

It's nothing new that Spielberg and Lucas took inspiration from older films for Indiana Jones' appearance. Look at Charlton Heston in SECRET OF THE INCAS (1954). It's a dead-ringer!

There’s also the Ronald Reagan movie ‘Hong Kong’ where he also wears the classic Hollywood adventurer outfit (fedora and leather jacket).
