How many in the series?

How many episodes were there in the series? I saw only one aeons ago and I don't even know which it was and I was somewhat disappointed as there was no clear denouement. I do remember though that the Batman was a no-nonsense fighter giving no quarters to evildoers which is how I liked Batman.

There are 16 episodes in this serial. He is basically a no-nonsense brawler, no modern kung-fu moves, no batmobile, but the essentials are there.

I like Lewis Wilson and Douglas Croft as Batman and Robin (respectively). Overall, I think this series, and the 1949 serial Batman and Robin, stand up well.

Actually, there are 15 episodes.

does it play all the way like a movie, or is it cut up in episodes?

reply

It's a serial, each episode is about 45 minutes. Similar to today's TV shows on DVD. However, the "plot" does stay fairly straight throughout.

Actually the episodes all run under 20 minutes each except for the first (26 min) and last (20 min) chapters.

The rest run from 14 to 18 minutes each.

The same goes for the 1949 Batman & Robin serial. 15 chapters with the first running 27 1/2 minutes and the rest running about 16-17 minutes.

Heh, they seem longer to me than today's full length tv shows.

Nice work, btw.
