So, what did you all think?

Just trying to get some conversation going.

I don't think many have seen it. Of course it's Bresson and it's brilliant but arguably also deservedly overlooked. If that makes sense lol.

Last film seen: Robert Bresson's Pickpocket - Brilliant!

I've seen it some time ago. It is an interesting film but with somewhat naive conclusion.

If you know where I can find it and watch it, I'll be the first to jump in.

I thought it was alright, about a 6/10 for me. I always love an involving story about redemption (Christian or not) but this piece here was a bit too neat and perfect for my taste. I definitely appreciated the thinly veiled criticism of the arbitrary rules of the convent (rules that permitted murderers to seek protection from the law and, at the same time, had no problems with banning pure, selfless souls - or so we are to believe - such as Anne-Marie for the silliest of reasons... where is God's mercy, one wonders...) and the predictable sentimentality seemed to work in spite itself (that closing sequence definitely being poignant). However, overall, it was far too predictable and conventional to truly transcend (unlike the man's later works).

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

I was not terribly impressed nor was I that invested in it while watching it. It all felt too, I don't know, random? Like, I just did not feel that strongly towards anyone in it. I was hoping I would have liked it more.
