Could you image if they tried to rebuild that plane in the real world?

Actually, major repairs were often done on the islands in the Pacific Theater and Southwest Pacific Theater with insufficient resources. They did not need specialize cement to fix the carbon-carbon composite blocks to the underlying graphite composite base. The fuselage, wing, and empennage are all made of aluminum alloy and the engines are mostly steel and brass.

Crews ysed to do amazing things on those islands. Still, I agree that the movie exaggerates a lot.
