Dearly beloved

There are no postings for this movie, but I think it might be my favorite of all Fred's movies, I know that it's silly and kinda sappy, but I just can't help it, every time I see this movie I melt. It's so good, maybe you disagree or maybe not, but (sigh), I just love this movie.

I not really a huge fan of movie from this decade and the decades surrounding. The only reason I watched this movie was because this movie was featured in the movie Rocket Gibraltar with Macauley Culkin (his first movie) and I was able to get the movie at my local library and I actually could follow the plot of the movie. I would recommend the movie to anyone who likes movies from the 1940's.

The Jerome Kern score is especially lovely. "Swing Time" is another Astaire movie with a Kern score, and it's also delightful.

Astaire is so charming, I don't know how Rita could resist, and she really is more beautiful in this movie than in any of her other films. My dad, who was in the army when this was made, tells me of he and his buddies walking out at the end of the film, speechless from her beauty. Rita and Fred have great chemistry together; she is probably one of the best dancers of all his partners, including Ginger.

Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth are great together, so charming and witty.
After seeing this film, I always end up humming the song 'Dearly Beloved'.

I really like this film. Of course the plot is paper thin, but the dancing is great! And Rita's beauty...I could write paragraphs just on that. It's fun, and has some good comedy lines.

This movie is excellent. It may have a thin plot, but, you can actually see them falling in love. In today's movies, they don't have to have good acting, they just throw in a little sex to represent the characters falling in love. When Robert goes to Maria's house for dinner, and they are dancing in the garden, you can just see how badly they want each other.

Amen. Plus the chemistry between the two is explosive. It was really nice to see Rita Hayworth in a role other than her 'Gilda' approach. She is very talented.
