Mrs. Hadley gets a singing telegram for her birthday. When she asks
who's it from, we find out it's from her hairdresser. When she wonders
why her hairdresser would do such a thing, her best friend Spring Byington
answers "Maybe she's musical." This is a joke and not meant to imply
a gay overtone.

It would be hard to imagine Mrs. Haldley's reaction to the singing telegram, and makes one wonder about the hairdresser's judgement perhaps :)
I thought this was a great movie, unsure why it isn't rated at least a bit higher. The use of comedy at times was done wery well which might not often be the case when discussing such "subjects"....
