Location?

Sorry, but I haven't seen this movie. Is the title set in, or based on the little 'town' southeast of Phoenix? I've been through there and its a couple of stores at the beginning of a bumpy dirt road that winds its way about 20 or so miles along a spectacular canyon and ends at the Roosevelt Dam.

Love's turned to lust and blood's turned to dust in my heart.

No. Tortilla Flat is based on John Steinbeck's novel of the same name, and both book and movie are set in Monterey, California. Unlike "Cannery Row," which is an actual district in Monterey and is the title of another Steinbeck novel (and also made into a film), there is no actual "Tortilla Flat" in Monterey.

Many of Steinbeck's best-known works (East of Eden, Of Mice and Men) are set in central California, particularly the Salinas Valley and Monterey area.
