CRITERION DVD + Blu-ray 8/27/13

Criterion will release To Be or Not to Be (1942) on DVD ($29.95) and Blu-ray ($39.95) on August 27, 2013.

Besides audio and visual improvements, bonus features include:

*Audio commentary by critic David Kalat
*Lubitsch le patron, 2010 French documentary on the director's career
*Trailer
*Booklet with an essay by critic Geoffrey O'Brien
*Two programs from Screen Guild Theater, a radio anthology series: Variety (1940), starring Jack Benny, Claudette Colbert and Ernst Lubitsch; and To Be or Not to Be (1942), starring William Powell, Diana Lewis and Sig Ruman
*More! (so says Criterion)

The cover art is both clever and pretty harsh, especially considering this is a comedy. But a great addition to the Criterion Collection.

Pip pip pip! Gotta have that overpriced overstuffed Blue Ray, don't we? Cuz just regular old DVD is not good enough for anal-retentive couch potatoes who demand the highest quality while sitting on their lard asses.

I'll look for it. Anything with Carole Lombard.
