Arizona Ain't Texas

I like the song, "Deep in the Heart of Texas," but Arizona is much farther west and a much more western state.

I was born in St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and raised mostly near 32nd Street and Bell Road, ten miles east and one mile north of Thunderbird Field No. 1. I have a friend who earned his master's degree at Thunderbird Academy of International Management. Today it is the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

The intersection of dirt roads that you see during the montage following the opening credits is 59th Avenue and Greenway Road. Thunderbird Road, that I suspect was named after the airfield is actually one mile south. It probably crossed right at the end of the north-south oriented main runway.
