Like the Robert Osborne said at the start, it was the first showing ever on TCM. I really enjoyed it. Tyrone Power at his dramatic best. Amazing how beautiful, witty and coy Joan Fontaine was. they just don't make movies like this anymore - SAD.

I recorded it but I haven't watched it yet. I spent today watching all the 3+ hour films I DVR'd. Still have two of those left plus a 4+ hour film which I'll get to when I have 4+ hours to spare. But I decided to watch this film tomorrow, which is why I came to this page as a reminder.

It remains something of a shame this film is not more widely known. But while i enjoyed very much the acting and dialogue, and Fontaine was excellent, several elements are probably too anachronistic for today's audiences.

A recent second viewing added the rather uneven sets as somewhat problematic. Some were great - the "outdoor" shot on the coast entering the hotel was quite fantastic when one realizes it was a studio shot. Several interiors were also exceptional. But the outdoor shot when the leads meet for the first time in daylight was laughable.
