Just saw this movie last night. Loved it. I am a fan of 30's and 40's movies, both British and American. 'Went the Day Well' is a British made film, 1942. It is an excellent portrayal of the possibility of a German paratrooper invasion on a small village with the eventual intent of expanding German occupation over all of England. The villagers are portrayed as alert, but somewhat naïve, at first, and let the Germans take over their town. But they eventually come to their senses, and fight to the death to protect their village. Yes, the deaths are shocking, but I, for one, so appreciate the reality of this movie. Bravo, to the British film makers who were brave enough to make this movie!
