Theatrical vs Director's cut

Anybody know what the difference is between the two?

Apparently in the directors cut, there's this plot line that explains how Leopold is actually an ancestor of Stuart's and that Stuart had gone to that time specifically to find him...which makes sense...because aside from yesterday, the only time I'd ever seen the movie was probably the year it came out, and all these years I thought I remembered Leopold was supposed to be Stuart's great grandpa or something...but then last night, I watched the theatrical version...and there was no mention of that.

I hope you've seen it before you read this next part, cause I don't want to give stuff away.

Plus I guess in the directors cut there's a scene where in the beginning, as Leopold is chasing Stuart out of the building they (literally)bump into Kate...

so yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what the difference is

When they bump into Kate at the beginning, do they actually see her face? Or did they just think that they've bumped into some random women and run away without looking at her face?

I don't think they see her, but I'm pretty sure she sees and recognizes them. You'd think if they saw her Stuart would have been like "Holy crap, Kate? What are you doing here?"

I'm a little surprised that she didn't chase after them...so maybe she didn't recognize them exactly.

Leopold sees her face, so that's why she looks so familiar to him when he meets her in Stuart's apartment.

So does that mean Kate is Stuart's great grandmother?

Yes technically, and they realize that in the deleted scenes...well Charlie does, and Kate makes this face like "Ohh my God" but that's it...they don't dwell on it. But they don't really have time to. The scene is in the part where they're taking a taxi to get to the bridge so Kate can jump.

Well...I don't know about online...but you could always rent the movie or buy it. I definitely think it's worth buying.

I just did a few hours ago (RCV-Miramax Dutch version DD5.1, 16:9) with NO extras, so where can I find the deleted scenes? Or even beter were can I find the DC?

I don't know much about the regions or anything, but the version I have, which includes deleted scenes and both versions of the film was bought here in the US.

Theatrical cut: Kate isn't in Leopold's world in the beginning,and we don't get a right intro on Kate. Also Stuart's ancestry is deleted in this one.
Running time: 113 minutes is this one.

Directors Cut: Leopold and Stuart bump into Kate(who wears the same dress she wore in the ending of the film when she does go back to the past to be with Leopold),Its revealed in this one that Stuart is Leopold's great great grandson thus making Leo Stuart's great great grandfather and also we get to see Kate at a press conference for a film she was marketing and the Vanessa Willams song Save The Best For Last is included in this one but not the theatrical cut.

Running time: 117 minutes.

Verdict: I like both of them but I seen the Theatrical version many times and the directors cut twice. I find the directors cut kinda spoils the twist with Kate going back in time to be with Leopold.
