Pearl Harbor, Possible?

Whenever I & my dad watched the scenes where Tarzan escapes by swinging across buildings on a ladder, he tells me that when he first saw that scene, it was interrupted by the announcement that Parl Harbor was attacked.
But checking the release dates, I'm not sure if it was possible. My dad did had a way of streching the truth at times.

Well, if the movie was released in '42, and PH happened at the end of '41, unless they had an advance copy (possible), it doesnt match up.

If you could check one of the newpaper archives and see what movie was playing on that day. Worth a check.

If you look under the Box Office/Business link here on IMDB, you'll see that this movie was filmed after Pearl Harbor:

Production Dates
17 December 1941 - 28 January 1942

Maybe he just got it mixed up with another Tarzan movie.

Tarzan's Secret Treasure was released just days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Maybe he was thinking about that?

He probably associated Tarzan's New York Adventure with the war because in 1942, the war was still in its early days (for the US) and everyone was worried about how it come out.

Janet! Donkeys!

Pearl Harbor was attacked in December 1941. This movie was released in May 1942; a good six months later. News traveled slower in those days but not that slowly.

Clearly, Pearl Harbor wasn't announced during the movie so either your father's memory is distorted or something else happened that caused two memories to merge. I assume your dad was very young so anything is possible.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
