Dark Comedy?

I grabbed this because it said "hilarious comedy" on the back. Having seen comedies of this era as well as many other era's, I figured verbal or slapstick comedy...but the first twenty minutes aren't funny in the least And so I turned it off. Could someone tell me what makes this film such a laugh-riot? Maybe give an example from the film that is so funny? I only ask cause by twenty minutes in, most comedies actually start with the humor.

Is this a dark comedy or something?

That would explain things.

I wish you hadn't turned it off. It is a beautiful and hysterical film. It does start slow -- I watched it with my mother and we both agreed that it had a dull begining. It really got going though and by the end I gave it a 5/5! One of my favorites -- and no it is not a dark comedy, it just takes a while to get into. I hope you'll give it another try!

Wait, let's check if I got this right: you start watching it, decide you don't like it and turn it off. And now you're asking us to give you examples of funny scenes from the film?!! Have you ever heard such a silly request?

[Actually, I have. Only recently on another MB (forgot which film) someone said he rented the film and asked if it was worth watching! ]

I never make mistakes. Once I thought I did, but I was wrong.

False advertising. I wonder if pops watched the whole thing. It's been a year and a half, but I doubt it. This is a kooky, intelligent comedy, not a hilarious one. Although it does have funny stuff, like Jean Arther having to take the blame for the loud snoring.

Susana Miranda, whatever happened to you?

Turn it on again, please. You need to watch it all the way through for it to be funny.

However, it's not really one of those slapstick comedies. The humor might be considered a little more subtle according to today's standards, but I'd categorize this movie as a Dramatic Comedy anyway. It has serious sides, but it also has a lighter side to it, with some pretty funny scenes.

Watch it!!!

You didn't laugh when she slams the front door, or asks for a pair of his pajamas?
