Ted Tetzlaff

I thought I'd mention the wonderful cinematography by Ted Tetzlaff -- great camera angles and lighting. Notice how the first confrontation between the Colman and Grant characters is framed with a shadowy banister separating them; it's subtle and very dramatic. Perhaps the director deserves credit; but I think the visual style is more characteristic of Tetzlaff's later movies as a director (Riffraff, The Window) than Stevens' work (though there's no denying the latter's mastery of composition).
