Where's the DVD!

Why has this forgotten classic not been released on DVD. I saw it many years in a revival house in Los Angeles and it was wonderful. PLEASE Fox do what you can to release this wonderful ensemble to the home market!!

film not yet avail on dvd as of JULY 2008; I hope when/if they do release it, it has the complete WC Fields bit. I have the 120 minute 1996 20th Cent/Fox VHS tape (tape?? whats that??) and as a reviewer mentioned, at the end of the lecture, M. Dumont is wearing a chandelier ( or big hat pulled way down...?) and it's never shown how that occurred...could have just been placed that way originally to show how tipsy she was, or the part where it happens could have ended up on the cutting room floor, or indeed, the bit was shortened along the way, since 120 minutes is already pretty long to put in VHS tape.... i don't think they got much longer than that.

Don't know what's holding up the release. In the meantime, at least the W.C. Fields segment is available on a DVD called "Hidden Hollywood II - More treasures from the Fox vaults".

Any film which combines the talents of Rita, Ginger, Fonda and Robinson is surely worth a DVD release.

You left off half of the cast in your compliment!

...Let's not forget the "Chocolate Icing" on all of that
"white cake".

Paul Robeson, Ethel Waters, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson,
The Hall Johnson choir, Clarene Muse, Cordell Hickman,....need I go on!

I'm sure you get my drift!!

I wouldn't mind the W.C. Fields segment include on the DVD, but have it so you can watch the movie without it as it was shown the theaters or add it to show what was originally going to be release until the segment was cut due to decisions by DFZ at Fox.

Be forewarned! The 2013 DVD from 20th Century Fox Cinema Archives DOES NOT include footage with W.C. Fields.
