Clark Gable was making this movie when his wife, Carole Lumbard, was killed in a plane crash on January 16, 1942. I'd read he had only completed four scenes when the crash happened, he later completed the film, and immediately joined the Army Air Corps. I know they don't film in order as we later see the movie. Does anyone know which four scenes in the film he completed before the crash?
shareI can't answer your question I'm afraid - I just came here to check if anyone else had info about it. I thought it was interesting that it wasn't released until September 1942. They were, of course, filming it in January of 1942 and they cranked out movies pretty quickly then so seems like there must have been a big break in the filming after Lombard's death. I guess there could be other reasons for it though.
