The final lines

the final speech by Sherlock Holmes in this movie, which refers to the horrors of the bombing to come, is so appropriate that you would think that it was written at the time of WWII for this movie.Ironically, it is one of the few things taken from the old Holmes story on which this movie is allegedly based,"His Last Bow", set on the eve of the First World War and written in 1917. Strangely, it is far more appropriate, and dramatically much more effective in this movie than it was in the original story.Almost as if the author was looking into the future foretelling the next war.

Interesting information. The "east wind" had arrived by the time the film was released (mid 1942).
