(SPOILER ALERT) Why did Fry shoot people in the movie theatre?

After Barry Kane prevented Fry from blowing up the battleship in Brooklyn, Fry & henchmen take Kane back to Rockefeller Center in news truck at gunpoint. They go back to their office and encounter police. Fry & henchmen make escape in elevator to ground floor & Fry goes into rear of movie theater, where the cops haven't followed him....but then Fry starts shooting wildly into the audience. Why?
