Rare Forties Nostalgia for the Twenties

What is surprising is that it is a marvelously funny movie about a period that wass only 15 or twenty years earlier for the movie audience. I can't think of another movie of the forties (outside of gangster films) that specifically bring to life the twenties in a comic way. And what a wealth of comedy is to be found there. All the different 'types' and the Jazz Age hype were deliciously familiar to those who were young in the twenties. Only 'Some Like it Hot' is funnier and that is much later.
