Spoiler Question

Is this the only movie where John Wayne plays a bad guy? I've seen so many of his movies, and sometimes, like in Bad Man and The Angel, he skirts the line, but this is the only movie I can remember where he actually went bad. He redeemed himself by the end, but if Jack hadn't gotten killed, he would have been lucky to escape hanging for deliberately sinking the ship and killing Susan Hayward. I still remember being totally shocked that he actually sank the ship-I thought he was laying a trap for Raymond Massey, but no, he really did take the ship out.
