Anybody else see it when it was new?

I remember going to see this at a neighborhood theater with my parents. We all thought it was really great. I've wondered ever since what it would feel like to go below in a hardhat diving rig.

I, too, saw it as a child with my parents during WW2 and we also thoroughly enjoyed it . Years later,
while in the USAF,I had the onerous task of having to help extricate two drowned airmen in the hold of
a B-61(we used scuba gear in about 10 ft. of water) because the local Korean divers were superstitious handling corpses. At that time I briefly recalled the squid I saw in the movie some 17 years before.

One has to remember that movie audiences of the 1940's were not as sophisticated as present ones;but at the same time I favorably reminisce about that old flick.

Hey are either of you two still alive and kicking? Pretty cool that you are pushing 80's and computer users!

I saw this when it first came out and sobbed myself to sleep over the almost drowned monkey.
