Squid Donated or Recycled?

Says in the Trivia that the squid was donated to the war effort (made of rubber of which there was a shortage). Yet it's seems to be the same one used later in "Road to Bali" and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" (Note: Irwin Allen was supposedly notorious for reusing old movie props!). Anyone know about this?

After all, "Surprise" is on our side!

It believe it really was donated for the war effort as rubber was so scarce during WWII. Coincidentally, in "The Wake of the Red Witch" (another John Wayne flick) another large, rubber denizen of the deep (only its a large octopus this time) was created and used in the film. But the octopus would remain entact after filming was complete and a decade later, it was taken out of storage by Ed Wood (notorious for stealing old movie props)and used in "Bride of the Monster" in the mid-50s

I had just been thinking the same thing. The one Bela rolled around with was way smaller and considerably less red.

I prefer the toad less raveled.
