Mr Pantoja, your comments, full of insults and disrespect of people who don't agree with you, tend to be disgustingly offensive. I don't want your posts with ideas and opinions to disappear, no matter how absolutely I disagree with them. But I really would like to disappear any post which insults other people just for the sake of it, or just because it has any different opinion.
Look at the different threads where you have taken part, and you'll se what I'm talking about.
We're here to discuss movies and any implication -artistic, social, political, ideological- which derives from them. You can keep your insults to yourself. We all will be much happier, probably even you.

Franco himself admitted that his regime was a military dictatorship until 1947 and the Charter of the Spanish People when he proclaimed himself a regent for a king to be crowned in the future (he didn't specifically say Juan Carlos, then 9 years old, at the time, although that was his intention) and proclaimed the regime to be traditionalist and monarchist.

I'm hardly ever glad that people are dead. But it's good to know that Franco is "dead and well dead", if you know what I mean...
Franco's few (and debatable) merits pale in comparison to his bad qualities.
The only unqualified good thing I could say about Franco is that he kept Spain out of WW2. And even this isn't without some debate. Spain had nothing to offer the Axis barring a German assault on Britain, Gibraltar or Portugal. I wonder if Franco would have made demands that Hitler would never have agreed to in order to stay out of the Axis if the Germans had gone ahead with Operation Sealion. If so, that would have destroyed the entire German navy, and Spain's meager naval resources at the time would have been destroyed thanks to RAF bombers. The cities of the Atlantic coast of northern Spain would've been heavily shelled. (OTOH, such a scenario would've led to an earlier end to WW2 in Europe, and the collapse of the Franco regime to be followed by a return to constitutional monarchy under Don Juan)
