Mary Wickes Steals This Movie

This is a nice little musical with great music but Mary Wickes totally steals the film with a very atypical performance as Shemp Howard's violent, caustic girlfriend. She's hilarious and I wish they had made this story line the dominant one in the film rather than the conventional love/hate romance between Dick Foran and Jennifer Holt.

I always like to See Mary Wickes in a film. I think that she should have played Olive Oyl in a live action Popeye movie. I was thinking that she had the voice and the look for that character while I was watching this movie.
