Old Time Radio (OTR) Recording

The OTR version of "Pride of the Yankees" was broadcast on October 4, 1943 in a Lux Theater radio show. It featured the voices of Gary Cooper, Virginia Bruce and Edgar Buchanan among others. The broadcast was introduced by Cecil B. DeMille. The program was presented in segments (i.e., acts) interspersed by commercials.

I listened to the 54 minute MP3 file last night. With capable voices and inflections, visuals are not always necessary to create an impact nearly as touching as was the film. Though this radio performance was about two years after Lou Gehrig's death, DeMille mentioned that (at that time) Gehrig's locker had remained untouched since he died. Is this still the situation today? Just curious.

Thanks in advance for any response.

His locker remained unused in the Yankees' locker room...until Yankee Stadium was renovated in 1974 or 75... at which time the locker was relocated to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

The locker was relocated to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974 or 75 and it wasn't used in The Pride of The Yankees.
