I'm reading the book Luckiest Man, the Life and Death of Lou Gehrig, and they have some great pictures in there. All I know is, if they made that movie now, or maybe 20 years ago it would have to be a Baldwin playing him! it's uncanny! he actually looked a lot like Alec Baldwin. its funny! if you get a chance to see those pictures, check it out.

The heavy New York accent of Lou Gehrig would ruin a movie, if the actor were to mimic Gehrig's speaking voice.

shareI always thought that a young Paul Newman would have been good. He had the rugged good looks, the dimples & the sparkle in his eyes that Gehrig had- and he was an incredible actor. Of course we'll never know because he's gone now and for some reason nobody saw that as a possibility during his long & wonderful career - but he would have been my choice.
