Best DVD transfer?
My IMAGE transfer is only OK--not particularly crisp, rather scratchy. Does anyone know of a better DVD transfer out there. Might CRITERION be thinking of a restoration and a reissue?

shareI just got a Korean DVD (with English subs and spoken in Italian) the picture was pretty good, no complaints, but I went to bed last night wondering why the hell hasn't criterion put this one up yet. Hopefully we'll be seeing it in the near future, they got the best transfers/extras/movies.
shareWatched the DVD from Image last night. Thought the subtitles were poor and took away from Visconti's usually poetic touch.
Or maybe it was because I wasn't acquainted with the source material and prefer Visconti's harsher critiques like Bellissima...
Either way, Criterion, pick this up!
I want a Criterion DVD or better yet a Blu-ray.
I love this film. By far the best adaptation of the source material, even if it was 'lifted.'
Any updates? I understand that the original negative was destroyed, and that the remaining elements are not great, but I would imagine with digital technology this title could be remastered to a condition much better than what is currently available.
