SERENADE IN BLUE - alternate film version

SERENADE IN BLUE has a history as used in the film ORCHESTRA WIVES.

1.) The recording used on the film soundtrack is a very edited version of the recording the Miller band did in the recording studio at FOX. Ray Eberle's entire chorus is missing in the film version, but the entire recording has been issued on LP and CD over the years.

2.) Even more interesting and rare. Miller's arrangers kept working on SIB until they got what he wanted....but not before a recording was made at FOX! This recording features a different arrangement and introduction that you can hear will morph into the arrangement that everyone has listened to for 60 plus years.....with just a little more work. Allegedly, Miller arranger/trumpeter Billy May finally wrote the famed introduction. However, much of the basis of that introduction was already written and recorded. May whipped it into shape.

For decades the story was that Billy May had written the entire introduction himself, but this may not be the case.

The recording was not in good condition, but was issued on a 'bootleg' CD....and is totally w/o a vocal track. It's as if this recording was made for the singers to practice the song with the band behind them...or possibly for Miller or the arrangers to hear the song as the arrangement progressed.
