decent movie

the movie is obviously not that good, but Rosalind Russell was pretty good imo
her one liners had very nice delivery, and she was very captivating throughout the movie; her sister and other characters were all pretty decent.

I thought that it was more than just decent. I found it very spirited, all of the cast members engaging - except for Allyn Joslyn, but you're not supposed to like him anyway.

And the ending knocked me off the couch, I wasn't prepared for that bit.

It ain't easy being green, or anything else, other than to be me

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. While you may not think that it was good, this was a war time movie. It was supposed to be light-hearted and take peoples minds off the war.

Part of this film's charm is that it IS a "period piece" and evokes the atmosphere of the time. I could actually remember the smell of the New York City subway (the West 4th St. station) while I watched it.

I prefer this to the 1955 musical version, which, despite the fine dancing and color, leaves me cold. Many reviewers have said that they prefer the musical score from the 1955 film to the one from "Wonderful Town." I have a feeling that they either didn't really listen to the score or they simply dislike Leonard Bernstein.

Columbia Pictures didn't want to pay the asking price for the "Wonderful Town" score, so it commissioned Jule Styne and Leo Robin to write one.
