The young man who played her son and Greer Garson dated while they were making the movie. I noticed his face would light up when he smiled at his "mother" not so much at his girlfriend...

While I would have gone with Miss Garson, I certainly was envious when he kissed each of them as he was being dropped off right before the tragedy.

"Why do you find it so hard to believe?"
"Why do you find it so easy?"
"It's never BEEN easy!"

I had a strange feeling when they shared a long kiss near the end of Mrs Miniver, considering they were meant to be Mother and Son. It did not surprise me once I found out they later married.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

ha thats too funny, because whenever they first pick him up at the train and are on their way back notice her face as she looks at him while they're both in the back of the car. It's soooo obvious she wants to be in his pants and while i was watching i was like "wtf that's her son!" but then i had to remind myself that it was just a movie and they are just actors.

I'm watching it right now. Greer keeps making eyes at her "son . She does not look happy when he has love scenes with Theresa Wright..

Personally I can't see what either woman (Greer Garson in real life, Teresa Wright in reel life) ever saw in Richard Ney/Vin Miniver. Not good-looking, and his character in the movie was an obnoxious sap, though I gather Ney himself wasn't a bad guy.

Also, the twelve-year age difference between Garson and Ney was pretty substantial in real life...though not substantial enough for her to be his mother in the movie! Not surprising they were only married for four years (1943-1947).
